We’ve held people in the form of illegal detention for a number of years and we need to go through our normal systems of military justice and civilian justice as applicable. Colorado has one of the best, or the only, supermax prison in Florence. And if that’s the best place to put some of the people that we need to keep off the streets then we should do it. We already have the World Trade Center bomber there from 1992 and Okahoma City bombers. It’s one of the best facilities of its kind in the country. Again, the key thing is anybody that would do our country harm should be kept off the street, put in the very best facility to prevent them from escaping, and that’s what I’ll continue to support. Reporter: A lot of lawmakers have tried to prevent Guantánamo detainees and other terrorism suspects from coming into prisons in the U.S. Why do you feel that your constituents would be safe when a lot of other lawmakers worry about that happening? Polis: Well I think we have a lot to worry about if our prisons aren’t safe. We have mass murders in there, we have rapists, we have child abusers. I mean, my goodness, terrorism would be one of many problems if maximum security prisons aren’t safe places to detain people and prevent them from escaping. So, if anybody has any doubts about the integrity of our prison system the correct answer would be to boost the integrity of our prison system and make sure we have good security. It’s not to -- what’s next, are we going to put murderers and rapists and others offshore as well?
