Before running for Congress, Al Green was elected as Justice of the Peace in Harris County, Texas, a position he held for 26 years. He co-founded the law firm Green, Wilson, Dewberry, and Fitch. He served as President of the Houston NAACP for 10 years, greatly expanding the branch under his leadership.
