Before entering politics, Brian Bilbray worked as a tax consultant. He sat on Imperial Beach’s city council and then served as mayor for seven years beginning in 1978. He worked on the San Diego County Board of Supervisors before being elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1994. He lost the 2000 election and became a Washington lobbyist. In 2006, Bilbray won a special election to serve in the House once again. He was re-elected in 2008. Bilbray is especially vocal about illegal immigration and securing the U.S.’ borders.
