Henry Cuellar received his associate’s degree from Laredo Community College. He then moved to Washington, D.C. and received his bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University. He then got his MA in International Trade at Texas A&M International University and JD and Ph.D. in Government from the University of Texas at Austin. In 1981 he started a law practice in Texas. He was a state representative from 1987 to 2001 and then became Texas Secretary of State. In 2005 he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives.  Official Biography
