
After getting his J.D. from Mercer University, Nathan Deal served as a Captain in the U.S. Army. Deal then worked as a lawyer, assistant district attorney and judge. In 1980, he was elected to serve in the Georgia State Senate, and eventually became president pro-tempore. Since 1992, he has been serving in the U.S. House of Representative. Official Biography.
