U.S. Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D - CA)
A member of a politically involved family, both her father and her brother served as Mayor of Baltimore. Her father was also a U.S. Representative from Maryland. Pelosi graduated from Trinity College in 1962. While at Trinity she interned for Democratic Senator Daniel Brewster. After marrying, she moved to San Francisco with her husband and began working in politics, eventually becoming Northern California Democratic Party Chairwoman in 1997. She was elected to Congress in 1987. She was the House Minority Leader from 2003 to 2007 and then became the first woman Speaker of the House.She is currently serving her 12th term in the House of Representatives.

As our federal government becomes more financially indebted to China, it becomes more difficult for us to hold the latter accountable for its human rights violations. How do you propose to address this dilemma?

We come back to this new direction Congress focusing on the economy. “Well, I haven’t had any overture from the White House on what they might consider an appropriate next step. What I do know is that in the House we compromised from a $90 billion dollar bill to a $35 billion dollar bill in order to have bipartisanship and to have it pass the United States Senate.”
